Rocky Mountain Herb Society of America
Description
Rocky Mountain Unit of The Herb Society of America is a Denver-based herb society dedicated to promoting the knowledge, use, and delight of herbs through education, shared experience, and community involvement. Founded in 1996 and operating on a volunteer basis, we bring together people with many different levels of experience, from beginners to advanced herbalists, educators, garden designers, researchers, and authors. What unites us is a common interest in herbs and a desire to learn more about how they can be grown, appreciated, and used in everyday life. In Colorado’s challenging gardening climate, we value the opportunity to share practical knowledge, ideas, and inspiration with others who care about herbs and horticulture.
We usually meet on the third Saturday of the month, with in-person and virtual options, and our programs explore many aspects of herbs, including taxonomy, culinary uses, landscape uses, craft uses, and other related topics. We also offer a monthly virtual Herb Study Group on the first Monday of the month, along with additional activities such as field trips, potlucks, themed tea parties, garden tours, and member committees focused on specific herbal interests. Our unit co-hosts an annual plant sale in May and maintains an herb demonstration garden at The Hudson Gardens in Littleton, where visitors can see collections of tea herbs, medicinal herbs, native herbs, potpourri herbs, culinary herbs, thymes, and edible flowers selected for the Colorado climate.
Whether you are new to herbs or have enjoyed them for years, we invite you to connect with us and learn more. We welcome new ideas, enthusiastic members, and volunteers who want to explore herbs in a thoughtful and educational setting.
